Hm... this is interesting... I may end up taking my wheels and tires off and comparing them on my same scale as trying to compare weights on different scales doesn't seem to work out right. Besides, I have to sit here and google all the kg to lbs, haha.

So i got my front wheel back from the repair place.. and now thinking about fitting the 1090RR wheels to my 990R as the road rims and putting some slicks or similar onto the stock star wheels for use at track days.

So.. ive been thinking of getting the 1090RR wheels painted the same graphite color as the 990R wheels.

Leave them black or change to graphite?

Ok, so I went ahead and weighed my front wheels, since I needed to replace the tires on the 1090RR as they were 7 and 8yrs old... and here is what I got on my digital postal scale:

1090RR Forged Alum Oem front wheel: 8lbs-2.4oz
Brembo/Marchesini Super/Ultra-lite Forged Alum front wheel: 6lbs-5.6oz

Now, these are both with no tires, no valve stems, but with bearings and wheel spacers. Also, the 1090RR wheels have been powder coated, so I don't know what that is doing to the weight as well. Still, 1lb-12.8 ounces (nearly 2lbs) is a pretty good savings. I will weigh the rear wheels soon as well, once I get the tire off of the 1090RR wheel.

Now to Machine/CNC a spacer/adapter to make them work on the 1090RR

Finally got the RR/Corsa wheels fitted with new rubber and on the bike - love them!!! Yes.. the seat is missing (getting redone).

A massive thanks to Jon (revhead1957) and Dave (yo_clarke) for the assistance in getting these - I owe you both beers, and for the helpful replies on this thread - I owe you beers as well

Cheers, Simon
