Custom bolts for my Radiator shrouds

OK..,so I got some beautiful little carbon pieces for my Brutale 1078rr http://www.mvagusta.net/forum/showth...37901&page=269
and as usual I wanted to add my own mark on this upgrade.

I have systematically been replacing various OEM bolts and other detail pieces with parts I've been making myself and here was an opportunity to do it again

To be honest I had made replacement bolts for the OEM aluminium shrouds (that I had polished). I made these some tome ago..,and was intending to reuse them.
But I test fitted another similar bolt I'd made in brass and compared it with the Aluminium ones I'd previously made.......and whaddya know...I preferred the brass next to the carbon fibre.

So once again time to crank up the lathe.

Oh and to get the 'hex' recess (for the 'Allen key' to fit) I used my little 'broaching' tool kit for this purpose.
I had made this some time ago.... http://www.mvagusta.net/forum/showthread.php?t=48793

Anyway...enough of the 'chit-chat' .....,lets make something!!
Brian.

Still following?

Ok here is the next sequence to completion

They're tiny little things 12.60mm in Diameter and the 12 holes around their circumference are 1mm in diameter.

I've mentioned this before...,to get the 'Hex' recess....(in this case 4mm) you need to drill the hole 'oversize' @ 4.10mm and then use a corresponding 4.10mm 'broach' otherwise it will be too tight for a 4mm allen key if you just use a 4mm drill bit and broach.

Superb!
I struggle to buy the right bolts and you just make your own custom ones!

Cool Dude...

.

Brian..... We've got a couple of spare rooms and a separate bathroom on the other side of the house... When do you want to move in ?

Hell,.. I'd even buy you a new lathe.

Do you ever think of using titanium material when making these custom pieces ?
