How to check your oil in B675?

Hi guys,

Can you please give some help here. i know this is a newbie question for most of you guys but i am really new to Motorcycles and to MV and the Maintenance manual it´s not clear.

I know i should put the motorcycle in a horizontal place and try to keep it level(not on side stand).
The tricky question is regarding the oil filler cap.

What is the correct procedure?
1. Untwist the dipstick
2. Clean the dipstick
3. Twist it till the end
4. Untwist the dipstick
5. check level

or

1. Untwist the dipstick
2. Clean the dipstick
3. Insert the dipstick in the hole
4. check level

thanks

bike vertical (straight up and down), unscrew dipstick, wipe, screw filler cap in ALL THE WAY, take out and check level, should be between min and max and checked after engine has been shut off at least ten minutes.

As zvez said but also don't have the bike on a paddock stand otherwise the oil runs to the front and gives you a false reading, as I found out this morning
This is what I do:
1. Unscrew dipstick, wipe it and screw it back in.
2. Pull the bike to upright, made easy by the fact it's so light.
3. Lean it back onto the stand and unscrew and read the dipstick.

I was quite poor at checking the oil on my jap bikes even though all I had to do was look in a window as none of them ever used any. Now I've got an Italian bike I thought I'd better keep an eye on it as I don't know what their like for oil but I'm pleased to report in 1400 miles it's not used a drop
