f4 problem

Hay all
got a problem with me bike its 2000 750f4 had it 2 years now the prob is that 3 weeks ago it would start in neutral but not first gear stand up and clutch in and at one point it wouldn't start had to role start changed the battery the other week and it and handed the connections and now its the first gear problem but now it cuts out will im riding
any help would be great

Hi Gazza..I'd have a look at the side stand switch..You can bridge it to test I understand. Do a search on the forum..

Yeah Joe did a search on the forum found nothing like this yeah disconnected the side stand switch and no difference thinking the ecu or fault in the loom

I would have suggested the side stand is moving intermittently (worn return spring) and hitting the side stand switch or a bit of grit has lodged in the switch but if the problem occurs with the switch disconnected ...

The workshop manual (page B73) "check that the side stand closes correctly without being blocked during it's movement (only for MY 2000)"

Gaz..Im not certain and Im away from my pc but I think if you just pull the connector off the switch is open and the ecu thinks the side stand is down and the engine stops. To eliminate the switch from enquiries you need to bridge the contacts and then the ecu thinks the side stand is up and the engine will run.

There was someone selling a special adapter on ebay to do this.

Yeah finally found some time to look at it and the dash lights up for a second then blank as if off a few turns of the key and same thing sometimes it will do the start up checks after 5-10SEC of be blank and start other times nothin just a blank dash checked all the fuses
