First Oil Change on the Bruty! Need suggestions

Hey everyone,

Getting ready to do the first oil change on the Bruty. 2006 910S, was wondering what the most recommended oil and filter are for the bike if you were "to do it over again" to your bike's first oil change. I'm looking for one that is readily available at the oil store lol.

Any tips that people can add? I figure its easy, just a bolt on the bottom and a funnel to fill and just unscrew the filter. Any suggestions or "watch outs" would be helpful!

Mark

Thanks everyone!

Here is a great website for you to look over regarding filters:
http://calsci.com/motorcycleinfo/FilterXRef.html

Here is a good thread regarding same:

Good information there, it helped me when I wanted to know more about what to get. I ended up buying a case of the Purolator PL14612's based on the information contained in the above links. You, of course, are welcome to make your own conclusions. Good information either way!

Thumbs up filter?

Mark;
the highest rated filter is the Purolator PL 14612, slightly better than the Mobil M-108

if you have clearance problems with the Purolator, use the shorter Mobil one

don't use the K&N, its a POS

i remove the #3&4 pipes, a nut, a bolt and the spring i put Never-Seize on the pipe joints
way easier access and no oil on the pipes either

please don't start another oil thread

Never had a problem with the K&N's myself on all my bikes - race ones included. I always use them for the ease of removal.
