Random Shutoff while riding

Ok guys have a good one for ya. No engine code. About 10 minutes into my ride the throttle starts slowing backing off. Downshift get a good backfire, down to 3500rpm backfire again and bike dies. Took it into a shop acts up 200 yards down the road for them, still no code. Have it through the week put 30 miles on it no trouble at all. Go pick it up make it a mile she dies. No codes still, just had the 12k service done 800 miles ago, ran fine till one morning it started doing this.

I think something about that new fuel filter you had installed is the cause.......starving for gas. Kinked line inside the tank??? Quick connect at pump base restricted? (Ask Chuck about this one).

I think Ed is on track here. I was going to suggest you check the tank quick disconnects for tight engagement.

The other thing that I could suggest is a bad fuel load or water in the tank. It doesn't take much.

I had the same symptoms on my 2010 1090RR and new plugs fixed it.

Update, fuel filter replaced checked all lines, and new plugs. Issue still persists, I have the same fuel in one of my race bikes. The second bike running without any troubles so a fuel issue is doubtful. Could it be ECU related? Correct me if I'm wrong but if the ECU is failing intermittently it wouldn't throw a code correct? Or would this just result in a hard swift shutoff instead of the delayed and dragged out one we currently have.

When I had that the alarm started to be faulty

What a beast of a motorcycle!
It growls and rages and flies across the tarmac like a wild animal that has escaped the confinement of a cage and after merely waiting restlessly until the release, will not endure being locked up ever again.

Skye I miss you. L'essentiel est invisible pour les yeux.

Have Mark look carefully at the quick connectors to the pump....Chuck had almost exact same symptoms....drove him nuts (and others). Of course, his were CPC metal replacements. Yours are original parts, right??

Ok, time to get picky.

First, the throttle does not "start backing off"...unless you rotate your hand.

I'll assume constant throttle position on your hand...or slightly MORE throttle trying to maintain RPM. (Most natural reaction.)

What was the last thing you did with the bike RIGHT BEFORE it started acting up?

Some more picky stuff: How did the removed plugs look?

Have you done anything with the TPS? The TPS is a rheostat and it could be going bad giving incorrect position to the ECU.

ECU issues can be wide and varied, but generally do not result in the symptoms you describe.
