Yes...they should seat fully. Yours are not seated. Loosen the hose clamps and push down !!

4 cylinder bike and 6 vacuum ports?? There should be 4 for use in balancing the throttle bodies. Perhaps the 2010 has the evaporative emissions canister connected to a second port...but there should be 4 more if that is the case. The older bikes with evap systems (US spec) had the can ported to the same hoses that were used for balancing.

I would expect 4 or 8 vacuum ports on the throttle bodies, not 6. Hmmmm......

I used to be fast....now I just dream about it.

OK. So there is something else keeping them from fully seating; note that the picture was from after the throttle body popped out from combustion pressure. It was level before, but still not able to fully seat; I'll take it apart and inspect.

Yes, I think the additional two ports did have something to do with the evap canister and the original owner modified somehow.

Thumbs up ????

Your throttle bodies are falling off......
Go to the hardware store and buy 8 M4 Allen head screws, I don't know how long 2nd Gen intake clamp
screws are, 1st Gen are 25 mm GET STAINLESS IF POSSIBLE
Also buy a 3mm ball end screwdriver......you'll thank me later, using a Phillips screwdriver on the stock
screws is a PITA

Here are 1st Gen TBs fully mounted

My throttle body was a royal PITA to get fully seated on the boots. You might want to get some silicon spray lube to help get it seated.

I saw that you posted this on another thread while researching and I did go and buy 4 (my bike only has 1 bolt per clamp) this morning Much easier than the screws!! Thanks!

Thanks for the tip, I'll give that a shot! I was worried I would break something with as much force as I applied trying to seat them so I assumed that that's where they were supposed to sit

@kbw: Do you have the manual for your bike? How are you making these decision?

There are only four vacuum caps needed if you put them at the throttle bodies. See red circles.

The evap can connects to a bridge connection that no longer exists if you removed the vacuum tubing at the throttle bodies. See green circle.

The secondary air system does not connect to the throttle bodies at any point.

I do have the shop manuals, thanks.
The parts list for my year shows two additional ports that are capped; not sure what they're for. See items circled red.

Those don't show additional ports. Those are spring caps. Probably for the European model. As yours is a USA spec machine, vacuum caps are not provided. Your correct parts diagram is K02.
