Alternator to voltage regulator wiring

Hi,

Stupid question as I'm unfamiliar with wiring diagrams. See attached from 2010 brutale 1090rr manual. 14 is alternator and 47 is voltage reg.

Can anyone clarify for me what the correct wiring sequence is from the alternator to the voltage regulator?
The wiring diagram states that the 3 alternator wires are all yellow and go to the voltage regulator slots 4, 5, and 6 and I accidentally mixed the wires up.

Is the alternator wiring from left to right looking from the clutch side?
On the voltage reg connection, does the 2nd row of connections restart and go from one side to the other or snake? :

I doesn't matter which order the 3 wires from the alternator get wired to the rectifier/regulator unit

You should confirm with a multimeter that there are no open circuit readings between any of the 3 wires coming from the alternator and more important that there are no short circuit readings between any of the 3 wires and ground.
(these tests should be done with the alternator disconnected from the bikes wiring loom)

Baba, thank you for the clarification and the link!
I'll perform the listed tests to see I can figure out why I'm having issues.

Thanks!

Thumbs up ?

kbw;
The tests are with the alternator disconnected measuring AC volts and engine running between pairs 1-2, 2-3, 1-3
should be ~60 volts AC at a specified rpm(check the manual for the numbers)
Then test in Ohms between each of the 3 wires for continuity to ground, it's best if it shows open

But, to answer your original question, the routing is 1 to 4, 2 to 5, 3 to 6. The numbers are molded into the plugs under the rubber covers.

Hi All,

Thank you for the replies.
To give a brief update: The voltage regulator and the alternator both appear to be fine after testing.
I've ordered new connectors to redo the terminals and connectors from the alternator to the voltage reg and the two wires from the voltage reg leading to power and elsewhere as they're stiff; likely from overheating due a loose connection/vibration.

Will check back in after rewiring. I'll also test the started motor in the meantime while I wait for the connectors/terminals.
