F4 Gearing

Being a very new MV owner I love the bike but I find the gearing a little on the low side. Its not helped by the fact that I have had a few bikes with 85 mph 1st gears such as the RC30, OWO1 and ZXR 750K1. Of course all these bikes had close ratio gear boxes so no fair comparison to a standard F4

My question is, if I dropped the rear sprocket by a tooth would it make any noticeable difference? I don't really want to loose too much bottom end torque and at the same time I am not interested in wheelies either, anybody tried it?

One tooth on the rear will not make much of a change. 3 or 4 will. But then you will be pulling a very tall first gear and 6th will be so tall you will never see top speed.

I have an excel sheet you can use to plug in different final drive ratios to see affect. It is set up for my 910R so you may need to change the other variables for your bike. Can't attach it here, but if you send me your email I can send it to you.

I've attached a PDF print of it for you to look at.

I used to be fast....now I just dream about it.
