Oil Change and Tune up time...

Hello Everyone,

I have decided to take my 06 Brutale 910s in for an oil change and tune up. The bike only has 3500 miles but being 12 years old I want to freshen things up a bit. The shop I am taking it to is very reputable but I was curious what everyone would rec'd I do? Here are my thoughts.

1. oil and filter
2. spark plugs
3. throttle body synch
4. chain lubed and adjusted if needed

My brake and clutch fluid appear to have been dealt with. Anything else you rec'd?

If the bike is new to you then consider:

New Tires ... find date stamp on sidewall. I'd replace if older than 5 years. It'll be hard and also new tire technology has changed and come a long way.

Battery? Could have an old battery that has sat for so long that it has lost capacity.

Brake fluid draws moisture... replace every two years is the recommendation.

I recommend a coolant change also to keep the radiator from corroding.

All new fluids and grease the rear hub. Chain adjust as result of hub service (do NOT over-torque the pinch bolts or over-tighten the chain!!).

Skip the plugs and throttle synch. Plugs wear from use (or foul from poor tune), not from time. And the throttle synch doesn't change unless someone has messed with it. Great opportunity for a tech to mess up something that isn't messed up now. Is it running good?

Just so you know....there is no such thing as a "Tune Up" anymore.

I used to be fast....now I just dream about it.
