2005 F4 running on 2 cylinders

Hey guys, I searched the forum for some ideas and have not found any for my issue. I started the bike in the garage and it fired up fine on all 4 cylinders, shut it off and rolled it out to the driveway to ride. Started it and it was really hard to start with what sounded like a weak battery and running on 2 cylinders.

I thought ok it must be the weak battery causing the problem. I installed a new battery and it still ran on 2 cylinders. I then installed a new EBS relay I had on hand thinking that would fix it, wrong.

It appears to be only running on cylinders 2 and 3, 1 and 4 are dead. Please send your thoughts on what might be the issue.

Thanks,
Chris

Fouled plugs ??? Always a first check, since you have to take the tank off to get at other items to test anyway.
Confirm spark, confirm injector spray.
Probably something simple.....just not simple to find necessarily.

I used to be fast....now I just dream about it.

I think this is the third bike this week reporting a similar issue.

I would check plugs for fouling then swap the coil for 1&4 with 2&3 if the misfre moves to the other cylinders you have a coil issue or wiring issue.
I would expect the coil to have a live feed at each coil and a triggered earth from the ECU .

Check the wiring loom at the right side of the bike just a little above the fuse box they can cause issues.

Good hunting.

Keep your MV in good repair: motorcycle boots are not designed for walking.

Probably not the case as you have 1&4 out but it's woth checking the rubber caps are seated on the throttle body balance pipes on either side...

Hey guys, I lucked out, it was only fouled plugs on 1 and 4. Replaced all plugs with new ones. It is back up and running! Thanks for the tips!
