@Ryan Stewart; Hi Ryan!!! That is the part for the 750. (Potentiometer)

I can't remember which bike you have, but if yours is a 1000 then the part number is 8000A8005, Throttle Valve Sensor Kit.

It's a 2002 F4.
Hell, it may use the same part as the 1000 but I don't have access to my parts manual right now.

It ain't what you ride, it's the way you ride it.

It hadnt overheated, was just moving about between 92-96c in the slow traffic with the fan running but obviously everything, as usually, was toasty warm.

Bike fired right back up like nothing was wrong but when I attempted to accelerate to go down the off ramp it stalled, revved a bit then stalled again. I managed in that to at least get above a walking pace and coast a bit. While coasting at idle it stalled out again. Managed to get on to a shoulder and took a second for a breather. Thought I could smell gas (well, more than normal but it oculd have been venting from the tank from the heat).

Fired right back up and it ran for a block or so, kind of hesitating but would go, but then while cruising at a few thousand RPM it cut out a few times and then died again so I pulled into a lot. Gave it 15 minutes and tried again, just a few blocks again.

While waiting for a tow truck that never showed (I will be dropping State Farm over this, they screwed that up in every conceivable way possible) for an hour and a half the bike obviously cooled considerably. I rode it home without issue (intermittent issues, yay!).

So its obviously electrical but being that its new enough to have electrics but old enough to not have the diagnostics to tell me which one was reading out of spec any advice you have for tracking down what has become heat sensitive would be really welcome.
Do you have a power commander?

Mine is the 750. Thanks. Now, where do Americans get their parts? I guess Atlanta has no MV dealer anymore and the previous places I used to always get parts reliably stopped carrying MV as well.

Ive emailed Gutsy but I know he focuses more on Ducati and just has some MV stuff.

And no, no power commander. Bike is mostly OEM save for a headlight, Li-Ion battery and tail tidy.

I havent touched the bike since this happened. Too hot to enjoy it on the road and too busy for the track this season. But now that it should start cooling in a couple of months I want to get it running again.

Have you checked all the wires running to and from the EBS relay, especially the ones under the tail?

Hey Ryan, I have Adam's software and the OBD connector if you'd like to use it.

I got it for working on my SPR but haven't used it enough to be expert...but it is pretty straight forward. I could put the software on a USB drive and loan you the cord. Just let me know. You and I don't live too far apart since I left Peachtree City!

I used to be fast....now I just dream about it.

Haven't been to the new Darwin's yet. Pam and I used to frequent the original as it was not too far from home. Anytime Mudcat was there we were too!
Give me a call or text 4043535684.

OK, so FINALLY got around to using Eds cable. Anyone else have issues with the application constantly saying ECU timeout? 5 of 6 times its immediate. It takes me to the diag screen but I can see that nothing is responding (twist the throttle and no TPS measurements, etc). Then on the 6th time I can use the diag and log for a minute or two before it kicks me back out.

Also, now that I am in Im not sure what I am doing. My TPS definitely reads. Idle is 1.12 degrees (everywhere I see it should be reading 2.3). Wide open is 85.03 degrees. But I am not seeing an option for a reset, just clearing errors. People talk about gear icons but I am not seeing that under diagnostics. If i locate instructions for the software online it looks like the version I am using is different to the instructions I find online. Those all show procedures for the TPS and tachometer looking dials and whatnot.

Here is what I see.

Idle:

This is whats available on the second tab:

And here is what the logging tab looks like (the other tab just opens old logs):
