Vacuum? line question

Hello All,
My new to me 2005 F4 1000cc is not running right at low rpms. So having done a bunch of reading ive started with spark plugs and then went on to visually inspect vacuum lines. l found this junction left open/going nowhere, it has a bevel on it that got me thinking that maybe i shouldn't be that way, grubby finger pointing to junction in question. Any advice would be much appreciated!

....................ok, i ''think'' i may have figured out the problem, those four hoses of the 5 way junction pictured above go up to the vacuum ports on either side of the bike that in the manual have caps on them. So im thinking at the very least that end/open part of the junction should have a cap on it or be plugged into a blank port somewhere.

...................am i getting warmer

Hi Mate.
Have you looked through this thread http://www.mvagusta.net/forum/showthread.php?t=39000 ?
Upto page 5 this is still very clear.
Also download the parts list for the F4's, look towards the back and you will see the pipe layout for the bikes which had the carbon canisters in the tanks.
It looks like the previous owner removed the canister but didn't finish the rest of the job, those 4 lines should now go to the cylinder head inlet ports, one to each cylinder and out to the frame, two each side, and then properly capped.
Can you see what's on the engine ports at the moment ?
What's coming out at the bottom of the tank ?

Thanks for the reply Donsy.
Those are my two tank vent pipes, in all the pictures ive seen these should have a T in them.

l have to go read your thread above thanks.

ln the meantime i was wondering if the shorter of the 2 should be plugged into that 5 way, i know the bike had its first service, and that the PO had the tank off, im wondering if he forgot to hook something up on his way out..............

Found it, that 5 way should be hooked up to the shorter of the pipes i though was a vent pipe, i was wondering why it was ''preformed'' to a certain shape.

Now back to read your thread thoroughly

You should go ahead and yank out the evap can......easy job. And you will eliminate a potential source of trouble, not to mention gaining a tiny bit more fuel capacity.

Thanks, but if i was to fully embrace that philosophy i would have avoided MVs altogether
