CCT measurements

Hi Guy's. my CCT seized up. Already made an appointment at the shop for upgrade to the new revision but part shipping will take at least 2 weeks so I want to know if I can still drive the bike. I took out the tensioner bolt and spring out (not the complete CCT) to determine the tensioner arm position. Does anyone have an old CCT laying around to measure the tensioner arm depth when fully in and full extended? mm (preferred) or inch.
It is an 1st revision tensioner (aluminum colored one) on a Brutale 750 F4

If you measure and cut off a suitable shaft (I used a 3mm drill bit and inserted that inside the spring) you can use the large bolt to push on it to manually extend the plunger by 1 click, which will free it up.

That measurement is on a silver top cct btw.
The revised one doesn't address the jamming issue either, in my experience.

Do you happen to know to what lenght to cut the drill bit for releasing the tensioner arm? Something like 30-35mm?

42mm long will do the trick. That way you will only have to screw the big bolt in by about 4 threads before it moves the plunger shaft.
BTW, when doing the freeing up bit, I didn't insert the spring. It makes it easier to turn gently and to hear the click of the ratchet. Once you are getting a resistance, it will be a matter of a third to a half of a turn.

Be careful, you only get the one chance. If you make a mistake it is off with the cam cover etc. There is no shortcut.

I look measurement and the plunger was stuck at 33.4 mm, i used a pin to extend it one click (to 34.5 mm) but is was still running really heavy. I can't imagine that the spring is able to tension it any further. But the plunger also dit not seem to be stuck at fully retracted position. I read somewhere that a good chain equals about 5 clicks (approx 1mm per click?) out so maybe the tensioner was stuck at its initial position and got stuck and was not able to extend further as the chain possibly did require more tensioning over time. Im going to take it for a short spin tomorrow to check if it still rattles as much as it did last time. If it still rattles the chain probably isnt tensioned properly but there is no way for me to tell how much tensioning it requires.
Does anybody know the max plunger extension under fitted conditions?

*Edit. Or the tensioner seized up at maximum extension, and now i extended it another click..

Do not be tempted to overtighten things to get the noise level down. All that will do is wear the chain guide out.
Evidence to date is that the cam chain doesn't stretch appreciably (3 clicks on the tensioner), even with 100,000kms.

I just took her for a trip and no unusual noises or vibrations this time, so im not sure what to think of it. I am still getting the tensioner replaced and i am going to keep driving the bike in the mean time.
