2013 F4 repairable write-off fixer upper

Bought a 2013 F4 as a write-off and fixed it up, every now and then something seems to stop working and these forums have been handy for figuring out how to get her going again.

Welcome, where are you based? It's good form to add tour location to your profile.

Any pics?

Question Current Problems

Currently having issues with the lambda sensor. The plug was loose last time I rode so it ended up melting against the side of the engine and now I'm not sure about how to wire the sensor. I was hoping someone with a 2013 F4 could help me out by checking the wiring on their lambda sensor so I can just solder the wires directly.

The workshop manual shows that the sensor connects into the wiring harness plug which is labeled:
1- orange green
2- violet
3- red green
4- yellow black

but that plug is unrecognizable and the plug on the lamba sensor goes

A- purple
B- white
C- grey
D- black

So logically the it should be either:

Wiring 1
purple A - 1 orange green
white B - 2 violet
grey C - 3 red green
black D - 4 yellow black

or

Wiring 2
purple A - 4 yellow black
white B - 3 red green
grey C - 2 violet
black D - 1 orange green

The images shows how I think the sensor should be wired and the reference from the workshop manual.

Here is a clear picture of the lambda sensor plug:

I don't believe the sensors have changed since the beginning.

What has changed is wiring harness colors and the plug wire colors.

4 - YELLOW/BLUE is ECU Analog Ground.
3 - RED/GREEN goes to the ECU C1 (IN lambda)
2 - VIOLET is ECU H1 (OUT lambda)
1 - ORANGE/GREEN is 12vdc power in

In your situation, the wires colors for 3 and 4 at the lambda need to be determined. The black wire is 12VDC power, the GREY wire should be the OUT Lambda signal.

So, Black to Orange/Green, Grey to Violet, then you have to determine which of the remaining two go to 3 & 4.

Here is the business end of the lambda sensor

This is from an '08 F4 312R. The trick is to see the wire orientation compared to where the black wire and the grey wire enter the lambda.

Looking at the picture, and looking at your lambda sensor, put the black wire to your right and the grey wire to your left. The wire at top center then goes to Terminal 4. That would be connected to the BLUE/YELLOW wire and is ANALOG GROUND from the ECU.

Thanks for the quick reply!

It turns out that they did actually change the plug for the 2013 model onwards from 18mm down to 12mm. It's an entirely different lambda sensor with different wire colours. I think what I'm going to need is someone with a 2013 onwards MV to check the connections on their bike.
