New Canadian Member!

Hey folks. New member here from Saskatchewan, Canada, and hopefully a soon to be MV owner. Been riding a 2007 ZX6R for the past four years and absolutely loved that bike. Invested a lot of time and money into it, but a few months ago I saw the 2013 F4, and fell in love all over again. So as much as it pained me, I sold the Kawi last week and have emailed the two closest MV dealers (both of which are out of province about 500 miles away).

Both dealers have emailed back and said they will need a $2000 deposit to guarantee me one and that the price is 18,500 plus 5% tax and fees. So I have a question for you guys, what should I offer them? I know Italian bikes have a lot less wiggle room on the msrp compared to Jap bikes, but I have no idea how much less as I've never dealt with them. I was thinking a reasonable offer would be 19,000 out the door and maybe get a cover or something thrown in. Keep in mind, I have to still get the bike here, which will cost at least 400 one way or another, plus I have to pay the taxes in my province which will be another 5%.

If you want one, pay the asking price. Two independent dealers quoted you the same.

Fair enough. I'm just always a little precarious towards the word of a salesmen, but if that's the price then that's price.

Paid asking for my F3, without hesitation. Did get a deal on extras bought in the store tho, and I've started a good relationship with a fine dealer now. Worth it to me.

Sask! Any corners to ride around there??

God I wish... If I want to ride any twisties I have to head out to your neck of the woods. Saskatchewan is probably the only place in the world you could draw a road map of the province by tracing the lines of graph paper...

Welcome to the forum.Dealers rarely drop the price of the bike due to low profit margins. You can try and get accessories/clothing thrown in.I got a MV Tshirt for nothing (big deal) but it was priced at $116.00 though, and I got a discount on a couple of other items I purchased.Good luck.

Hey,

I'm in Edmonton.

Which two dealers did you contact? If it was Edmonton and Calgary, pick Calgary!

The dealer in Edmonton seems more comfortable fixing Snowmachines!

My two cents....

1992 ZX7R K1
1992 ZX7R K1 (2)
1994 Ducati 900ss
2012 FLHTCU

I bought my MV from one of the dealers you'll be buying from. didn't get much knocked off the price of mine and I had bought 4 bikes from them before.

Make a sensible offer to your dealer of choice. He may, or may not accept. You'll never know unless you try. As long as you're not a jerk about it, he'll not be insulted. He can always say no, or make a counter offer.

I've got just a little experience on these kinds of negotiations.....

910R, S4RS Monster,'78 BMW R100S, Heritage Softail, Chrome V-Rod, Sportster 48, Kawasaki Concours 1400, '07 Ultra Classic with sidecar, yellow Vespa LX 150, a cool little Ruckus, and a very understanding wife........
