Insurance for Overseas Travellers

One of my buddies is planning a trip next year, taking in IOM TT and a few MotoGP and WSBK races in Europe.

He is thinking to purchase a bike for the duration and sell it afterwards. Does anyone know (a) if this is possible, and (b) is insurance available?
He is Australian nationality and licenceholder.

Thumbs up

My understanding is that you need an address of residence for the UK insurance companies, I would think the whole idea is workable but his insurance will be high due to his first year of UK policy. I have a pal who did use his overseas no claims bonus when he returned to the UK, as he made sure he brought a copy of it with him. UK insurance normally gives you 90 days per year of overseas use, and it can be extended with some companies. I hope this comes off for him, I had the same idea for Ozztralia but a good pal just gave me his bike keys for a month instead, Top Bloke!

I will never do that again, again, again!

New Site Garage
I have a couple of friends who are buying new Ducatis in the UK later this year and plan to spend 6 weeks riding in Europe. They are also having difficulty with the insurance issue. The plan currently being considered is to hire the bikes from the dealer and buy them to ship home after the trip.

Any other solutions would be appreciated.
