Using standard exhaust for awhile

Got a defect warning for running integrated blinkers in the tail light and not having a standard reflector. After having 3 MVs over 6 years this is the first time I got defected for this.

Also got a warning on my non-standard exhaust system, looks like I'll be running my stockies for the next week until I get the defect cleared.

Seems like there is a blitz on all bikes which is not completely standard at the moment. Watch out for an undercover Gold/orange cop car with their toys on the dash.

I might have to retire the TI full system if this is going to become a regular occurrence.

Make an offer whilst I'm in a selling mood on the full TI system, headers, midpipe and slip ons.

Or maybe still with the TI and install the baffle inserts. I forgot how light these babies are. The complete slip on are lighter than one side of the standard F4 slipons.

I think this is going to happen quite a bit now mate. I can understand them complaing about the indicators(sorta, but not realy), but for the pipes .
IF I could I would be all over those babies right about now, is there no way you can just baffle them and take it for testing ?

I got a warning on the exhaust, ie because they are not standard and has no EPA/ EU markings. I was defected for the blinkers but not for the exhaust system thank god, so I don't need to get them tested.

Something about the blinkers that they have to be 30cm apart, oh well put the stock blinkers back on for awhile.

BTW - With the baffle inserts in place, the exhaust are about as loud as the RG3, ie mellow.

Where were you pulled over? Which street / suburb?

This is the same colour car that caught me speeding on the M2 about 9 months ago...

I was also defected about 6 months ago for my "loud exhaust" (I had the baffles out).....police can only can give you a maximum of, if I remember correctly, 21 days to get it fixed, but the 'fix time' is pretty much determined by the police issuing the ticket (they could write down 7 days to fix!!)...and they can also fine you as well ($137 ???), although this time he 'only' warned me and gave me the defect notice...

If it happens again, it gets progressively worse - higher fine and an RTA pit and EPA inspection / re-certification.

The third time, I think they can impound your bike !

up the old road. I thought it would be a quiet saturday ride as most people are either still on holidays or at Eastern creek doing track days. Boy I was wrong. He pulled over 2 other bikes infront of me as well.

BTW - it was an orange/gold commondoor with dark tint and lots of toys on display on the dash!!

I only got a defect notice for blinkers and no reflector, since I've been such a good little boy i have all my points (ie never lost any points knock on wood) so no fines.

I wish I could make you a offer on them. They are incredible. Just not in the budget at this time.

I've got the stock RG3, but its stamped for race track use only. Anyone know if the slash tips from Motovation USA has the EU emissions stamped on them?

We just had a blitz up here,Northern NSW,but I was prewarned and stayed off the road, they checked exhaust emmissions and noise, its only a matter of time before I get caught with the Bodis. Can you just put the originals on,get it passed then go back to the Ti system and maybe buy the Melotti tail tidy with LED indicators with small red adhesive reflectors stuck on the number plate cover, thats what I have, looks good and is legal, just a thought.

Yep will do this, this is what the riding house sounds like with the baffles in place.

I did a video without the baffles but I made a mistake of deleting it from the phone before I uploaded the video.

Yes you can, but if the police 'capture' and defect you again (after you have put the Ti's back on), they will see you already had one defect and then:

1. They will tell you to go to the RTA for an inspection (which you don't want as their inspection's are very detailed !)

2. The RTA Inspectors will 'visit' the garage and question how/why they passed your exhaust...

3. As long as the Melotti has indicators that are 30cm apart, you're OK.

4. Red strip is also OK.

What really sux about all this is having a loud exhaust is an extra safety measure - drivers NEED to also HEAR US on the road as they don't pay any attention and look out for bike riders nowadays...

I was stationary at a red light 3 weeks ago, stalled the bike and then a lady hit me from behind - her quote: "I am really sorry, I saw the cars NEXT TO ME take off, so I did too !!"

Whatever happened to drivers LOOKING FORWARD when driving???

I can understand the de-catalytic issue, sort of... ...I see many trucks, buses, taxi's and run-down cars on the road that are quite obviously spitting out more 'ugly' fumes...
