Can't help but think your bike was stolen to order mate, given the rareity of them.
Here in the UK 80% of stolen bikes are broken for parts thats why I had mine alpha dotted, Alarmed and fitted with a tracker.
If my bike is moved with out the key in the ignition Tracker will contact me to check it's not being stolen and if they can't get a hold of me they call the police to report the bike stolen and then activate the tracker unit so the cops can close in on it

That sounds like second F4 stolen in S.Francisco area. I remember there was another thread ( recently) about a stolen F4-1000 with Rizla Suzuki in SF area. All F4 owners in the area should be on the alert.
found these Pics of stolen bikes in SF area , strangely owner did not listed VIN numbers for either one of the bikes.
Sorry for your pain.
When you say it was in a locked garage, what do you mean?
Was it in an individually locked garage, part of a large parking complex, access restricted to, viewable from the street?
What forced method of entry was used?
Was the stearing column locked on the bike?
Tell me you didn't leave the key in the ignition. And if you did, would probably leave that piece of info off insurance claim if your insurer doesn't ask.

A friend has an apartment in a Multi-story apartment building, its a locked and gated multi-car garage- The bike was there for 3 days before it was gone-

See above, but it was covered; you could sorta see the cover from the street, but only if you peered around a corner-
What forced method of entry was used?
None seen so far, but the police are investigating it as a Trespass and Theft-
maybe they could have snuck in when a car entered- or it could have been somebody in the building..
Was the stearing column locked on the bike?
Yes, I locked the steering column and took the key- The tumbler was found on the ground with parts of the steering column.. I think they used a dent puller into the ignition..

No, I didnt leave the key in, as proof the ignition was on the floor- But, I also neglected to unplug the ECU .. I totally spaced that (I usually do that on longer trips-)
That is a perfect post!
All those details should help prevent this from happening to others or at least minimize it. It appears it wasn't a target of opportunity as they had the tools ready to pull the tumbler from a bike in a locked garage. Not only that, but if that's the cover on the floor, it appears it's not an MV cover so someone definitely knew the bike was there (someone in the building).
I ride my bike to work every so often. At first, I didn't cover it and found people would stop and look at it (I can see my bike from my office window). I decided to put the cover on it, but it still screamed MV. When I changed the mirrors (Rizmoto), the factory cover didn't fit, so I got a plain cover. That remedied everything. No gawkers or attention getters. This was a great solution for when I'm away from my bike in a public area. These comments in no way are a reflection of your loss.
Update.. I got a call from the Martinez Police dept. in June saying that the MV is at a tow yard in the East Bay. It's stripped.. I call my Insurance with all the details, AAA, and they say, "thanks, but we paid you, it's our bike.. have a nice day.."
Then I get a call in Sept, from the Martinez Police dept saying "Please get your bike" So i call this "InterInsuracne Agency" and I plead for them to pick up the bike and sell it to me.. And they reply.. "It's our decision to do what we please with our bike, The stolen MV; have a nice day.."
I think that maybe it's written off on their books, and the tow/recovery costs are higher than the value of this stripped bike..
Is there anything I can do? I sort of half dont want it, Dont want to see the violated MV, but it would be a cool project.. Maybe make the Rat-F4 I have dreamed about..
Ideas?
