Broken Fuel Line - LA locals

If your in LA and were stuck on the 210 east in a Jam around 6pm this evening it might have been because of me..

I'm riding in the car pool lane when the engine died followed by an almighty stench of petrol. There's no hard shoulder on the 210 freeway so there's little me stopped as far left in the carpool lane as I could - surrounded by lots of angry SUV drivers... Could things get worse - sure they could - my stupid phone battery had to die also.
The evening turned out to be a very positive experience despite the inconvenience. First up, a good Samaritan pulled over and tried to help.. There was nothing he could do but I was really grateful nonetheless.. If you see a broken down biker - even if you think you can't help - pull over anyway - the consideration alone makes the experience better.. Moments later the CHP and LA Metro patrol arrived - they had two trucks block all six lanes of the freeway so I could wheel my bike safely to the other side. The metro guy - also very helpful, called a tow truck for me. Within 20 minutes of the breakdown I was on my way home - bike in tow, all literally within 20 minutes...

In my experience people in the Bay Area never give LA any props for anything.. But I was really impressed with todays service which all happened without me making one phone call. I've been riding for over 15 years.. 10 of them in the bay area - I've had a few breakdowns in that time and never saw a tow truck in less than 90 minutes...

So rock on LA.. I just moved down south a month ago - so for a stranger in town that assistance really saved me a lot of trouble as I don't know the area very well.. Thanks CHP, LA Metro and the good samaritan.. Despite everything I arrived home with smile on my face...

Anyway - I've read the treads about the metal fuel line connector replacement for the plastic one that broke today... so I'll do that. (Why plastic MV? why....) Anyway, just thought I'd share a positive story about LA since so many people are so quick to bash it..

FAAAARK! that was you!!#@@!$ (kiddding!)

Not that I actually ever take the 210E but... above was screamed by my friends who do commute on the 210 to Glendora. Glad to hear Metro actually helped. I think the lesson here (at least for LA) is to never forget to charge your cell phone?
