Leaked docs show Motorcyclist Mag caved to advertiser pressure, fired editor

Couldn't be less surprised that a bike rag would do this:

Wow. Interesting view into the industry. I think I smell law suits brewing because of those leaked e-mails.

Oh my.....and after all those articles about "not" bowing to the advertisers in bringing the truth about helmets to light???

Well....Catterson is a bit of a pompous, arrogant....oh never mind. I can't really speak to his motives....I don't know him personally...just watched him in action in the hotel lobby at Laguna Seca one year.

always liked Dexter Ford's articles.

I used to be fast....now I just dream about it.

No surprises there really.

If a magazine upsets a company with a poor product review, naturally you would threaten to pull advertising or withdraw from giving them freebies/test products due to the bad press.

That's why generally most product reviews praise even the shittest of products.

Magazine reviews should really just be used as spec comparisons to competitors. Then go and read up on the forums for 'real world' reviews.

I did like that helmet article but my only thought was is this guy correct about the g-forces and needing a softer helmet? This guy is a journalist, not a scientist. I'm not sure if his view is 100% correct????

That's one of the main reasons I don't buy magazines or give too much credence to them - the whole system is bent. I was making these very statements on here when people were using magazine write ups to assess the new F4 - I said I'd rather wait for people on HERE to write reviews and go off those!

The only literature worth reading is that from the Nazi Consumer Choice groups - they can' be bought/pressured...lol

Cycleworld is the only Mag I subscribe to anymore. Peter Egan is worth the cost all by himself... Motorcyclist has become childish, baised and trashy. Bunch of Hunter Thompson wanna bees, without Thompsons warped genious.
