Advice on possible purchase

Im looking at an evo3 and its right at 7700 miles, and dealer has no records for it. Has the manuals, keys and tools, but not stand. Also it would make sense that in this economy he traded it before having to pay for the major service coming up. Question is what would be the cost of this service or is it even worth it. I thought I might be able to do alot of things the manual says, but the valve adjustments and measuring just gave me a headache.

thanks

Whether the cost of the service is worth it depends on the price of the bike.

If you are asking is it worth the cost to have the service done if you can't do it the answer is yes.

Any idea on what the cost is? I think I can get it for a reasonable price, its just the fact that it should go in for service immediately because of mileage and not sure if previous owner did it. Its starting and idling great, not still have no idea if it runs down the road great. If everything is runnning fine, so I just wait until the next service and change the oil and air filters?

The Evo3 didn't come with a stand - you can buy one easily enough from members of the forum.
Mine has just had an annual service at about £100 parts and labour. I don't know how much a major one will be - contact one of the site sponsors in your area for a guide. A dealer may give you a price just to do the bits you don't want to.

Mine did! I thought all the F4's up to the 1000S models came with a stand. I can't comment on the later bikes cos I haven't got one.

Maybe I was ripped off with the stand - but I checked through the extras when I bought it and the stand was only listed for the 'exotic' versions at that time (2004) so I didn't expect it and I wasn't disappointed.
