Because there is an upswing in new memberships. It's in the interests of the collective membership for accuracy and expediency to provide basic information like location and the bike/s one needs help with. Threads can be rather long so its important to know what bike/problem is being discussed without going to the first post in the tread--if the bike model and year information are even there. So yes, we ALL need this information to help make this collective help forum in the best interest of everyone.

MEMBERSHIP PROFILE
Set up your profile through the User CP accessible as a drop-down menu under TOOLS
1. LOCATION (where you are located in the world, i.e. city, town, country)
Tools > User CP > Your Profile > Edit Your details > Additional Information > Location
2. BIKE YEAR and MODEL/s (this is important so fellow members can provide accurate advice)
Tools > User CP > Settings & Options > Edit Signature
POSTING
Three Post Rule
Make 3 posts in the NEW MEMBER INTRODUCTION section in order to get more access to other sections on the forum. If you notice that you are not able to post within the Marketplace or General for example, it is because you have not met the minimum requirement of 3 posts to do so. Might we suggest, start off your first post by introducing yourself to the community here:
