My MVís new partner in crime (itís still Italian)

After some years away from Ducatiís, I finally picked up another one. I bought this 2009 1198S from a local BMW motorcycle dealer. Iíve been watching it for a few months and figured the time was right to get a good deal. It was traded-in in June so it had also been there for awhile. Needles to say, I offered $2,000 under their asking price, and got it! Best part is that it came with the recent service history from our local Ducati dealer with the 7500 mile service completed along with a few other repairs (including a new Ducati clutch) totaling $1,800. The BMW dealer had also just changed the oil which is a plus. Over all iím completely satisfied with the bike. Actually, my expectations have been far exceeded. Coming from a previous 2005 999, I was expecting this bike to be kind of a dog. To my surprise, it definitely is NOT lacking in power. It easily power wheelies in first and second, canít beat that. Also, iíve been playing with the traction control and itís really good. I have always turned the TC off on my MV Agusta because I like to power slide it out of turns, but now iím thinking of playing with it on the MV as well.
The 1198s came with TONS of nice billet and carbon upgrades which is a huge plus. Really, the only thing I plan on changing are the tires, poweder coating the wheels black, and adding some Akrapovic carbon mufflers with a PCV. Iím actually pretty surprised with how well the Michelin PP RS grip. I found it pretty cool how you can actually see where the compound changes on the tire after some hot laps. Reguardless, when they wear out, I will be getting the wheels power coated satin black and installing some Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa SP V2ís.

My ONLY complaint is more dealer related. The battery in the bike is only 18 months old, yet it wouldnít restart the bike after the ride home. I was stranded at the ďracetrackĒ by my house on the ride home with it. I put it on the Ctek trickle charger for the last 4 days and took it out again today. It started fine, but when I shut it off to get gas, of course it wouldnít start it again hot. So I called the dealer AGAIN and insisted they replace the battery and they agreed.

Very well done, @anothermvfanatic. You're either a wizard with Photoshop, OR, you have exactly the same bike with black wheels and identical trees and surroundings somewhere out in your 'burbs'!!

Seriously though, that presents @black954 (which I suspect is his tag from his early FireBlade days (kudos to him!!) a very good opportunity to see in the flesh how his bike would look if he did go the powder coating. For me, on that bike, I would leave them as is, but hey, that's what 'personalisation' is all about!

I must add that it's a very pristine looking Duke. Cheers!

if u look carefully the two are very different, the first is lighter black and the second is more pronounced black aka gloss

Thank you very much, and WOW great job photo shopping that pic!! Unfortunately, that did not help your argument lol. I like the black SOOOOOOOOOOO much better after seeing that pic LOL.

Back in 2006 I bought a brand new Hayabusa to build into an "American style TT" bike. Part of the build included adding Forged Marchesinis to help lower the weight. Well, there was a long back order for black wheels, but there were gold ones in stock so I just bought those. You should have seen the look on the dealer mechanics face when I brought brand new gold forged Marchesini's in to have the bearings removed so I could get them powder coated black. I swear at least 3 tech and 2 service writers tried talking me out of it LOL. Needless to say, I had them done in black and loved them even better.
