Thumbs up 60 Seconds on an MV

60 Seconds on an MV
(I love this bike)

It's a warm Summer's day in early July. It's been a long day and you need to unwind for a bit. You have already ridden a few miles and your tires are warm. You are only about 10 miles from your favorite twisty back road. Get on the ramp to the highway, a long sweeping down hill right hander that tightens up at the bottom.

It begins!

You dive fearlessly into the corner winding out second gear. The MV I4 singing gloriously at 9500rpm's, radiating enthusiasm from the very core of your being. Heightened senses hear the quiet ssssSSHHHH of the tires heeled over near their limits. Your eyes become laser beams returning geometric information to your brain, determining the straightest line. The corner tightens as you reduce throttle and lift your knee slightly as it catches the tops of the grass at the edge of the tarmac. The MV begs for more as you roll on throttle. (I love the sound of this thing)

The highway has only a few straggling cars that just happen to be right in the way. No problem... click goes third gear with no clutch. Your right wrist showing no restraint as you fly past 100 mph. The front tire climbs as you strafe the bike left on its rear wheel past the Subie in the right lane and then, click, goes fourth as the front wheel comes back down while passing a Chevy pickup in the left lane. Happiness knows no limits as you click fifth. The MV I4 is roaring, announcing its momentary presence, while your temporary road guests disappear in your mirrors.

The exit comes in seconds, not minutes, as you grab a big hand full of front brake at the last second, the front tire begging for mercy while tap dancing the gears back down to 1. Droppin in to each gear makes for a marvelous chorus of exhaust notes. STOP. Pull out right and WHACK the throttle. The engine sings again as the front wheel climbs as the tach approaches redline. click, the seamless change to second with no clutch sends the front tire down only enough to skip it once or twice before climbing again. Hard on the brakes again for another STOP. All of the days woes and miseries are gone as you cross the intersection to your candy shop of corners.

And the ride has only just begun.

Our 1078 doesn't seem to have come with any scenery as standard! 1st gear = Sky & clouds ..... 2nd gear = more sky, more clouds, 3rd gear = sky, clouds and some tree tops.

Track days are fun. I love 'em. Some times you just got to let it all out.
