Zombie account gore

So it's just under 10 years since I started throwing money at my bike, and the only thing I regret is maybe the hours wasted on here rather than on my bike.

She's been neglected a bit as I had to shoot overseas for work for a short while, but I'd been super keen about getting her shipped over to me.

Couldn't work out why it was such a problem to get the bike shipped as she was all ready to go when I left her.

Found out today, pictures attached. I'm not even angry, I'm a little impressed at the effort that went into it....

This looks like an attempt to remove a 55mm wheel nut that has gone horribly wrong.

It ain't what you ride, it's the way you ride it.

Tried to send you an email about this.
That's where my bikes were kept in storage.
i was one of the lucky ones to get it out in 1 piece.

Place is now starting to look empty...
But i don't remember your bike in that condition ( mind you didn't get a closer look)
Will send a P.M

i think @The_castle maybe right, but its as though they had no concept of how threads work...i can't see any heating marks which would have been a give away on how they tried to loosen it.

i think i've been able to find a 2nd hand replacement off a 1000, so maybe turn this into an abstract shot-glass?

Unhappy That's just sickening .. :-0

My wheel nut was very difficult to get undone .. When i bought the bike 3+ years ago, part of the deal was that the seller fitted a new set of Bridgestone S20evo's on it .. i did not think to check the state of the wheel nut when checking out the bike before buying it, so the damage to the nut (from a badly fitting 55 mm socket I guess) may have been there from before
My suspicion is that the scumbags that did that to your bike, had no idea of the torque levels required, or the left hand thread .. to me it looks like they drilled into both the nut and the axle .. Were your wheels stolen?? Or did they have to remove the wheels to ship the bike? An forked it up like that in the attempt to get it ready for shipping?

Someone should be "persuaded" to pay for that sort of damage ..
