Hi All,
I have recently purchased a 2006 F4 1000R. With only 4000kms on the clock as the first owner kept it in his office for 8 years. The bike looks brand new.

Mods:
Arrow RG3 exhaust
MV Corse RACE RG3 ECU
Alcantara Seat
All possible carbon fiber panels

Needless to say, it is my new pride and joy.

This forum and its wealth of knowledge is exactly what i would like to be apart of. I hope to contribute what I can and learn as much as I can.

I have looked through the forum and have found some common issues with these bikes, including the overheating and the hub issue.

I plan to change the fan blades, water pump, coolant and override switch as soon as possible.

The hub, I'm not so worried about just yet, as the bike has been very lightly used.

I am reading through the posts, looking for things I need to keep my eye on, I hope I don't miss anything.

If anyone could suggest any other things which I should look at I would greatly appreciate it.

First off, welcome to this madhouse.

The hub, if you maintain it and keep torques and chain tension in spec will last for quite a while.

Go to the top of the maintenance section and download the manuals from Donsy's site. Have a read about things. This will go a long way toward helping you when you have additional questions.

Welcome and congrats! Actually I would check the hub. From experience we can all say it's not only the mileage that counts to have a failure. Better safe than sorry for a relatively simple procedure.

Yes I agree with Erik, the hub bearings have been known to fail with less than 4000 on the clock.
Replace the whole hub, or, as I have done, purchase some CBR bearings from Noel "the Knurl" and do it yourself. It equals worry free riding!!
Welcome to the forum, it's a great place for advice and laughs!

Dave.

Thanks for the advice, pics to come when I have one worthy of posting.

Going through all the potential problem posts I am now paranoid to start the bike lol...
