fuel mileage comparison

so i i was on the ducati spot forums the other day reading a thread about fuel mileage and how many miles you get on a 1098 riding conservatively. wwell i was wondering if anyone here who has a 1098 and f4 (allan gibbs), can enlighten me as to which get you better mileage on a tank of gas while riding conservatively.

Huh? Me? Well, I think I get better gas mileage on the 1098 than the F4. I can't give you exact numbers because I fill up gas containers for my bikes whenever I fill up my wife's car. Also, my fuel light on the 1098 hasn't worked since I got the bike so I'm refilling around ever 70 miles to be safe. And it takes about 2 gallons and the MV a little over 2 gallons.

I went for a long ride with a 1098S the other day and we filled up twice during the ride and each time my bike needed abournd $4 more to fill it.

Don't know if this helps much and also he was not taking his bike over 7000rpm as he's still running it in...though he did crack 200kph for the first of many times on that day and he was heavy on the throttle up to the 7K rpm.

Yes, I sold it back in June and never really looked back. It spent most of it's 30 months just sitting in my garage. So, the 1098 and MV combo made better sense.

I topped off both bike's tanks last night (via fuel can again). Both bikes had 50 miles on the odometer and the MV took about 2.3 gallons while the 1098 took about 2 gallons. So, that's about 21 mpg for the MV and about 25mpg for the 1098. Both are on the same canyon road (8 mile trip to work). Again, this isn't scientific. It's just some rough ball parks.
