next step - shoulder surgery...

On to the next thing!

Time to get my shoulder fixed (grade 3 acromioclavicular separation). Surgery is scheduled for tomorrow at 1:30. The doctor will be doing what's know as a modified Weaver-Dunn, with a tendon allograft (cadaver tendon). The data on this procedure looks pretty good. I should have full range of motion back and nearly all the strength too.

Assuming this goes well, this should be the last procedure I need to get me fixed back up. It's rather interesting to me that this will be performed on an outpatient basis. So, I get to come home tomorrow. That's cool.

I'm looking forward to getting this done. My shoulder is becoming more and more of a problem as my activity level increases.

I think this will go well Alex!
In 2005 I also had a Third degree acromioclavicular luxation and the shoulder looked so fucked up, but they fixed it to almost 100%! Today i can do anything i could do before, and the thing looks just about as before the crash! (Exactly as un-fit as the other shoulder.. )

It takes a while, in my case i walked around with a metalpiece and seven screws inside the shoulder for 4 months, but when they took it out it was a really fast recovery.

Good luck now!

Best of luck, Alex.

I had a 3rd degree ac separation in 1997 and never did the surgery. I was a pro bicycle racer and just wanted to get back to the season ASAP. Not a great idea. It works okay now but it's all out of whack. You made the right choice.

Happy healing.
