Brutale 1090 RR Starter won't turn over, Help!

All,

I just got this motorcycle just under a month ago, and while trying to head to work today, it stall while going into a turn (does this when cold). While pulling in the clutch I go to start it and nothing happens. I've done this a few times, and I've been able to press the starter button and the bike would fire up and off I go. This time I got nothing. Brought the bike to a stop, put it in neutral, nothinng. toggled the engine stop button to make sure that wasn't engaged and it wasn't. I also turned off the bike completely for a few minutes and tried to start it again and still nothing. I'm thinking possible fuse blown? Can someone advise what would be the issue.

ps. batter is good. when it fires up, it fires up strong.

@tonymopar440: Tony, there are known issues with the start solenoid on most MVs. For the 1090RR, that solenoid and its attendant fuse is under the seat just behind the battery box.

There are two 40 amp fuses in the holder for the solid. One is a spare, the other is the active fuse.

BEFORE you swap those fuses you should disconnect your battery negative lead, then disconnect all the connections on the solenoid and look for charred wiring.

Refurbish the connections, reinstall the connectors, swap the fuse out, then reinstall the battery negative lead.

If this doesn't solve your issue I would be surprised and we'll troubleshoot further.

Thank Silentservice,

I will do this once I get home. I also spoke to the dealer and he advised it could also be the clutch safety switch as well. Have you heard of this?

Thanks again

Yes, but that is less likely than the solenoid and fuse.

question about the 40 amp fuses...since I haven't seen them yet, are they standard fuses that I can get at any auto/moto parts store?

Yes..... and the wiring connectors can be purchased on-line if needed, and the solenoid can be replaced by one from a different brand (Yamaha I think). Do a search....Tools > Advanced Search

I used to be fast....now I just dream about it.

Thank you all for your assistance. I was able to resolve issue. I did a test start up after I fully charged the battery. Of course I got nothing, but I was able to notice a constant humming as if the gas pump was stuck, and it wouldn't stop. I simply disconnected the negative terminal on the battery, let it sit for a few minutes like that, reconnected it, and viola! - she started right up. haven't had any problems since.
