Ohlins Steering Damper gone dry

I recently re service a friends non-electronic Ohlins steering damper from a 2006 ZX10R it was dry had a few drop of oil.

Never been service from new, and it wasn't leaking, nor weeping. where did the oil go?

So i thought i would re service my F4 steering damper and found some oil just enough to make the damper working.

But there was a lot more oil went in last time I service it, and now also. Again no leaks or weep.

I feel the need, the need for corner speed!
