Exclamation Brutale - Which Fuel Filter - don't be fooled

Hi Team,
Interesting exercise down here in NZ over the past week.

Following an ECU upgrade and some excellent performance changes, I cleaned the bike and managed to get some water somewhere. I cleaned up all the connections and still had some inconsistent feeding and decided to ensure fueling was not the issue. The 990R has done 17k so I new fuel filter wouldn't hurt her.

Well...manuals all state that the fuel filters are:

800088585 for Gen 1 B4 (750, 910, 1078)
800B4278 for Gen 2 B4 (920, 990, 1090)

8000B7161 for Gen 3 B3 (675, 800)

Before I had completed the part research, I'd removed the fuel pump assembly and confirmed that the filter was a Mahle KL145 (Gen 2). Trying to source one of these in NZ was damn near impossible. I looked for the alternate filters (Ducati/BMW, Guzzi etc.) and these were also difficult to find. After 3-4 days I ended up calling the local MV dealer who wanted my frame registration to confirm frame information to order the correct part. He calls me back and says that's going to be $165 ...What the $#@%$%% !! ...this fella is the messenger so I tell him that's pretty outrageous considering I can buy the Mahle KL145 on-line for $14 USD and wait the same amount of time. He then paused and says, Oh...I've got one of them in stock. Ok, I'll bite - How much? - $33.90 Great put my name on it and I'll be there this afternoon to collect.

The crunch - the 800088585 and the 800B4278 are the same filter (Mahle KL145).

Filter replaced, running brilliantly - have no idea why MV changed the part# when it's the same filter.

The (B3/F3) use different filters to (F4, B4, TV, Stradale, Rivale)

So what Mahl filter can we use on the F3 / B3 ? I was hoping to change mine out with a KL145 , with the part numbers indicated you saying that’s not the right part. An MV filter is ridiculously expensive.

Thumbs up ???

Come on folks, an inline fuel injection fuel filter is just inline fuel injection fuel filter
NOT motorcycle brand specific, they're all at 3 bar pressure so.....

You just need one with 5/16"/8mm inlet and outlet fittings

I use WIX #33012 .....they're $5+ at most auto parts stores
