I wouldn't use a wrench on the KN filter top hex . There is quite a lever arm to the weak point and it's asking for trouble. They are pretty flimsy things not cast iron at all.

I use the filter pliars I bought for the job, carefully.

I'm picking my my 2000 F4 this afternoon and figured I better ask a dumb question. When I pull up the Purolator PL 14612 it tells me it won't fit the F4... is it different for the older F4 or is it just not listed as fitting. Been learning a lot but still don't know much

@theknurl: Noel has the measurements somewhere, but there are a couple of lengths on the Purolator filter. One is shorter.

The PL14612 should fit. It has to do with header clearance.

Purolator is the best filter.

Angry filter?

Purolator PL 14612 filters
old yellow ones 76.5mm long uses 14 flat cup wrench
new blue ones 76mm long uses a different 14 flat cup wrench
The Nazis bought Purolator and just had to fuck something up......the new filters are 0.3mm larger across
the flats of the wrench......just enough so the old wrench won't work

IDIOTS!!!!!
