Restore Matte paint finish

Hi guys,

My Brutale 750 is the matte Grey/Black colour, but the tank is beginning to get a little shiny. Does anyone know how or if it is possible to restore the matte finish?

Thanks

I used to own 2 detail shops that worked almost exclusively on exotic sports cars and show cars. What has happened is friction has knocked down the finish to the point it is glossy. There is nothing in a can, besides paint, that will fix it. Wet sanding will only knock it down further and likely go through the paint. And that's not really making it matte again, it's making it scratched and will look like shit. Matte paint can be made glossy. Unfortunately, nothing I know of will make glossy paint matte. Your options are, polish the whole thing so it is all gloss (meh), repaint with a matte clear coat, or live with it.

Thanks for the info. Might just have to live with it until the piggy bank can fund a respray then.

Cheers

If it's not damaged, a respray with just matte clear might not cost all that much. I'm not a painter though so I don't know if that's all you would need.

I had also wondered if that was an option.
