steering head race bearings

Anyone had to replace your steering head race bearings on any of the 3 cyls?

On my B800 with 12,500 miles they are shot, play in the steering and rusty stains all-around base of steering stem. Anyone done a taper bearing replacement?

There's no difference between the 3-cyl bikes or the 4-cyl bikes as far as steering stem bearings goes Jim (in style at least, not sure about size), or any other brand for that matter.
If you replace the very effective and light weight bicycle style bearings with taper bearings you need to keep in mind the way taper bearings get pre-torqued much differently.
After than it's smiles all the way.

Cheers for that Donsy, think I will go tapered rollers, never liked the bicycle type sets on the F4. Sounds like a job this Easter weekend.
