175 CSTL Oil Level

Hi, Can anyone tell me if I should check the oil level with the dip stick screwed in or just resting on the top of the thread.?

I always check mine with he dipstick screwed in.
I ran a translation on entries in the online manuals and the ones that I looked at did not specify either way .. they just said make sure oil is at the level mark!.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for your response. Since it took a while to get a response I did some research on my own. I downloaded an Italian workshop manual and using google translate came to the conclusion that the recommended oil volume was 1.4 ltrs.

So I filled my engine with 1.4 ltrs and checked the level on the dipstick. With the dipstick resting on the threads this corresponded with the high level mark. As this is how it commonly done with other motorcycle manufacturers I came to the conclusion that the oil level should be measured with the dipstick unscrewed and just sitting on the top of the thread.

Just my conclusion, I donít know if this is correct or not.
