Wink Latest Additions

Hi All,

I've always documented' new arrivals so whilst I may not as active as in the past on the forum - some traditions are good to keep alive.

So here we go:

1. MV Agusta '98' - the first model MV made - the VIN indicates according to MV museum (who had a hand in making sure the restoration was as authentic as possible) makes this the 32nd bike built. It had undergone a terrible and rough restoration complete with modern day MV decals the cog wheel that we all know so well - heartbreaking really.

I found in Germany at a car dealer of all places while search for a Fiat Topolino for my brother - this place had a Topolino but in the pic in the background I could see half a wheel, a bit of fork and part front guard. I thought "Oh lord this couldn't be a 98" so I enquired and was told that while they were not motorcycle traders they "understood this to be very important model and not negotiable on price" so I held my breath and asked and said YES as I exhaled...it was nothing like the figure I was expecting. I settled the deal immediately and organised collection.

It was shipped directlyto my dear friend in Tuscany who has been around bikes his whole life ( own an MV Monoalbero - mine when he lets it go -lol) and has been looking for a 98 for many years - he is 79 years old and could not believe the opportunity I was giving him - together we spent ( via remote control) restoring this bike - he is best of friends with Eng. Sironi from the MV Museum and hence we received a great helping hand. Everything has been done on this bike, new piston made from scratch, new clutch plates every nut and bolt gone over (except for the points and it broke down -lol new points be here next week) - the original decals expertly copied in the US with a proper left and right decal made.

It was badly molested bike with no chance of ever being in 'original' condition and that's when we made the decision to see it re-born - everybody associated with this project rightly has great pride in the achievement and I am pretty chuffed. The highest compliment paid to was by an esteemed member of this forum (in the classic section who unfortunately no longer frequents it)described it as "the finest he has ever seen" and those that know him - know he is not a fan or restored bikes. It left my speechless but I am loving this thing. It arrived in Australia along the Motocarro below 1 September 2017.

2. Motocarro Trasporto Tevere MV 235 cc. Well what can I say - Kevin posted elsewhere on a Norton that he bought which made no sense - well this thing makes it impossible to make any kind of sense of it whatsoever other than I HAD to have it I belonged to a lovely Gentleman in Belgium who sadly has a terminal cancer and given til Sept this year to live - he didn't make it. He wanted his pride and joy to go the right home. I got a call from a mutual contact and here we are. I am gutted I could not send him pics of it in its new home. For me he remains the spiritual owner and I the custodian - I will look after like all my others and whilst the colour is nothing like the original, I won't be changing a darn thing. It is registered and I drove it on a public road. Top speed on a downhill was about 50kph and average 35-40kph I guess my licence will be safe Interesting it is registered as motorcycle - the law in this state dictates that " If it has handle bars it is a motorcycle" - I guess I have to wear a helmet then? I know I didn't wear one on my maiden voyage but the cops would have had to get thru the crowds to get to me -lol

It's a happy vehicle or a vehicle that brings happiness - all I saw was smiling people, mobile phones taking pics and more thumbs up than I knew what to do with.

Bonus it fits in the garage - he he.

That is more than cool!!

What a beast of a motorcycle!
It growls and rages and flies across the tarmac like a wild animal that has escaped the confinement of a cage and after merely waiting restlessly until the release, will not endure being locked up ever again.

Skye I miss you. L'essentiel est invisible pour les yeux.

Robbie! You have done it again! I am envious of your collection, but there is no better to have those collectors items. Well done.

Oh Robbie i am so happy for u mate, really i am. I adore how much passion and respect you have for the MV brand and how you admit you are merely a custodian of these bikes, like we all are.
One day man, one day that garage of yours and i will be counting sheep together, that is if u let me sleep in the garage lol

both those models are just stunning. the 98 ive seen and sat on before but the motocaro ive never seen before, i just love it

Hey Erik,

Long time no speak. Your words are succinct, accurate & insightful . ........I rode and drove them thru our town and cool isn't a powerful enough word to describe the experience.

Hope all is well with you & yours.
Cheers Rob
