750 ss matching or not...

Dear,
Need some help
Got the follow offer
MV 750 MV4C752140479 with engine 214/0589
After first look I thought, possible.....
Then I looked into the bikemuseum register and there is a report without any comments :
750s disc 1974214-0589 (engine) with 2140574 frame

So same engine number with 0589 from 1974 (?) to another frame....

so someone could help me out ? It's a lot of money...
Thanks
Regards
Peter

Hi Peter. Those numbers appear to indicate a very late model Sport (sold mid-to-late 1974 ~ or even early 1975 as one of the last batch sold by Hansen, in Baden-Baden, Germany). The highest 750S engine number was 214-0592, and it was built on 6/3/75. Production of the 750S at this time was very sporadic, and there was no corellation between frame and engine numbers ~ neither was it unknown for numbers to be duplicated on engines used in two separate frames.

If you want to buy such a bike, I think it would be helpful to contact one of the clubs. They will help you.
