Ipotesi Back up and running

After replacing and upgrading the valve seats, and having discussions with other owners on this site, I decided to split the cases and check my crankshaft before installing one of Albert Bold's excellent oil filtration system. After making all the necessary special tools to remove various parts, I had the cases split and crank out. The cases were not too dirty inside but there was some sludge evident. Accordingly, I gave the crank to my specialist who pulled it apart including removing the plugs from the pins to give it a really good clean. Thankfully it was not too bad (afer 9500km) and just needed a good clean. The rods and bearings were in excellent condition so cleaned and reassembled

In the mean time, I cleaned out the cases and checked gearbox, clutch etc. I noticed that the wiring for the charging system and ignition were in very poor condition with missing insulation and burned connectors etc. A rewire of both were attempted, and subsequently successful.

On reassembly, the bike started second kick and now starts first kick hot or cold. Before it was very hit and miss in the starting dept, especially when cold, so I suspect the poor condition of the wiring was the problem.
All in all, I now have a bike that has reliable electrics, upgraded valve seats and proper oil filtration. It goes just as hard as it always did, but now should be far more reliable and last a lot longer. While in the motor I was pretty impressed with the quality of machining, casting and tolerances all round. Nicely engineered and put together. Looking forward to many miles on the 350 and though I would share a few photos of the rebuild
