56 Raid 250 SOHC

I have recently acquired an MV basket case which appears to be a Raid 250cc but has a 71 mm bore as opposed to the standard 69 mm. In addition it is a SOHC engine, not pushrod. The Frame No is 417159 and the Engine No 472934 S. Stamped on the barrel are 6/56, which I presume stands for June 1956 and the numbers 2.796 (= 71 mm). It is believed that the bike might have been raced in my country Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe). I have read that early Raids were SOHC, as were the production racers, but that street bikes were pushrod.

Any enlightenment on the exact model bike that I have would be appreciated.
