Stuck gearbox on Brutale 1090RR?

7500 miles service done a couple weeks ago. This morning I take the bike out and head to the gas station for a fill up a couple blocks away from home. After filling up, I start the bike and it stalls as I leave. I restart it fine then realize that I cannot shift higher than 2nd gear. Downshifted and upshifted a number of times and was able to get up to 3rd gear. Shifting within the three gears feels either loose or hard.

No funny noises or dripping fluids. Any clue what the issue could be? Did the stall unhinge something in the gearbox? Could this be just the shifter misbehaving?

Thanks in advance for sharing any insights.

Broken shift return spring. It is a recall item. Check with your dealer.

Thanks for the info. I was planning on taking it to the dealer but found it's always a good idea to eliminate a lot of the guesswork on their part by tapping into the amazing wealth of knowledge and experience of this board. Didn't take long...

The reason I asked the question about the shift springs is because I have a '13 1090 with 200 miles on it and it's going into "neutral" when shifting to 5th gear. It's very weird. It hasn't fallen out of gear. This happens occasional when shifting to 5th gear. When I'm up shifting and I release the clutch it feels like I'm neutral.... BUT sometimes if I roll off the throttle and then roll it back on it goes into gear(with out manipulating the clutch). Then other times when shifting to 5th; to get it into gear I have to just engage and release the clutch and it pops into gear. The gear indicator on the display is indicating 5th gear. Bike is brand new so I'm not super concerned yet. Any thoughts? Is this a spring problem or a new bike problem.

It could be a technique problem.

New bike issue. I found a lever adjustment helped.
