Gearbox or clutch 1090 rr

Just swapped for a 2010 1090rr downchanges require extreme effort.
Neutral nearly impossible to get. A weird feeling at the lever, all feels agricultural.
Any ideas anyone ? Cheers sicsinik.

The clutch action is normal, the gearbox is tight in terms of lever effort especially if it has the uprated pawl spring, however your sounds worse than normal with neutral being hard to get so suggest set the clutch lever at maximum span, bleed the slave cylinder and if that doesn't do it change the engine oil for 10w-60, if someone has used 20w-50 it makes the clutch drag and downshifts become very notchy.

How many miles? Has it sat for a while? If you're not sure how long the oil has been in there, and what oil it is, I'd change it and then ride for a while.

All good suggestions here. I have a 2010 1090RR and you can feel the shifts in the clutch lever...some say that is due to the Slipper Clutch. The oil in my bike is AMSoil 20/50 Motorcycle oil.

Bleed the bajeebies out of the clutch and see how it feels.

its air in the slave or M/C

remove the slave, with the fitting at the high spot, push the piston all the way back in, put a clamp on it

starting at the slave tap on the line to knock any bubbles loose, wait a few minutes for the tiny bubbles to rise

bleed the M/C

remount the slave, pump the M/C

repeat......

you now have a bled clutch

Hi guys, cheers for the input. The dealer was supposed to have serviced the bike
but have my doubts. Will get back to him to check oil type.
It may have been stood awhile. Fluid in the clutch seems good.
I did shorten the lever span, without effect.Pulling the clutch does sound
kinda rumbly loud. Will try all things recommended .
Bleeding the slave cylinder, is all new to me. But with no dealers here
(bike from the UK) gonna have to seriously learn about maintenance.

shortening the lever span (distance from the grip) will only make it worse

if pulling the lever makes it sound and FEEL "kinda rumbly loud" its probably the bearing in the pressure plate

Slight update.
Can't get oil type from dealer, he's blanking me. So decided to change oil and filter.
Couldn't see any bubbles from bleeding the m/cylinder.
Didn't go into the slave cylinder, am a bit cautious when don't know what I'm doing.
But easier to find neutral, although still notchiness.
The clutch does feel pretty savage, is this ' normal'.
The bike has done 6500 miles.

The knurl:-) if the clutch bearing is on its way out any definitive way to tell.
The bike has a three month dealer warranty, so not sure if it will be classed
as a consumable or a fault. Cheers.

P.S. hallelujah!

Opened up slave and clamped piston, a few slow pumps and hey
presto, a line of bubbles.
I wanted to like this bike (not tempting fate) but I think were gonna
get along just fine. Hmm.....think I can feel some crash protection coming on.
Its gotta be 100% better, I get the feeling gear change may not be super smooth
due to the nature of the engine. I guess I'm probably spoilt with the super slick
triumph 800 and not reputed to be great 954 blade.
