Brutale Water Pump

Hi everyone I'm new to forum Just picked up a 1078 BrutaleRR 2009
Leaking water pump through weep hole. Can anyone tell me how to remove the shaft from the water pump bearings and seal are shot, but shaft is very tight. I've noticed on the parts manual that there are 2 bearings on the shaft either side of a collar which way does the shaft come out?

Water pump

Robbo,

Check this thread out.

http://www.mvagusta.net/forum/showth...ght=water+pump

Under 'brutale' scroll down to the bottom of the page and do a search - 'water pump'. The above threads in there and a few more besides. I know the Knurl has posted good advice on this too.

Cheers

Deano

Thanks Deano I've used that thread to take apart but he doesn't mention how to get the seals and bearing out

Looking at the pictures the shaft and bearings are held in with circlips so you would need to remove them first, you'll probably need to clean the shaft up a bit with some emery tape so it slides through the inner race of the bearing, tap the shaft out the you'll then have access to remove the bearings and seal. Reverse procedure for assembly.

When looking at the manuals, just be sure you look at the later model waterpump.

Thanks for all the advice. When it said the housing needs to be heated to remove the bearing I gave up. I'll send to Tropper Lu's and get them to fit the new seals and bearings

For me, that means sweet talk the significant other, put it in the oven for 20mins, on low heat. Aluminium heats and expands more than steel, so the bearing comes out quite easily. Handle with welding gloves!
