I suspect thirstier than my 2010 model due to the increased power, 25 UK MPG during running in and 14,000 miles later with a few mods 42 MPG average, that's around 170 miles before the light comes on, empty around 220 miles.

What mods did you do? I have a 2012 1090 RR and the absolute best mileage I can get is 24 mpg driving like a grandma. Consensus seems to say that I have to get a microtec ECU to do better

42 mpg is insane dont' expect that with the bike stock no matter how well its tuned.

i get something anywhere from 17-23 city stop and go in traffic.

highway only going 65-75mph = 30-33mgp at best.

never got more than 155 miles before the fuel light went on usually comes on anytime from 125-145miles.

Never been able to get more than 18 litres into my tank (2010) from Fuel indicator light on. Just because I wanted to know, one day I drained the tank after the light came on and I only got 1 litre out of it!

I actually ran out of gas once and I was only able to get 5.7 gallons into it despite claims that it holds 6.07. What mods improve gas mileage? It is not that I am all that worried about the money savings with better gas mileage, but I hate having to stop every 100 miles to get gas

Probably due to the evap canister mounted in the tank displacing the other .4g.

Even with the 1090R it's the same 125-145 mile range before the light comes on depending on how much city/highway driving is mixed and have had the light kick on as low as 90-100 miles after fill up (low highway miles and lots of throttle between lights and any other open road). I definitely wasn't buying a liter sport-naked for it's fuel economy. There are other markets for that:

With an equal run, it was about 15% harder on fuel than my friends FZ1.

Speed is relative, but fast is fast.

I have a microtec and all the emissions related items removed, I don't ride it to the limit by any means but neither do I ride it to conserve fuel, the best I have had is 180 miles before the light came on but that was on a long run, the worst as mentioned when was the bike was standard and with low mileage, around 100 miles before the light came on. I also know I have at least 40 miles left after the light comes on.
