First of all a big hello to all on this site and merry xmas to all
could you please help me with some questions about the base model brutale 1090 2013 i have a speed triple 1050 and and thinking of trading in for the 2013 brutale never had a mv before can you tell me how the 1090 is in town at low rpm also is there a lot of vibration through the bars are the clocks really that hard to read is it comfortable i have read these issues on line what do you think and how do you think it compares to the speed triple and how is it for passengers and any other feed back would be great as i would like to start the paper work next week just not sure .............
Thank you for any feed back in advance and have a great 2013

I can tell you coming from a 1k Ducati monster, to a 990r Brutale, that I never miss the torque. Mine just pulses and pulls, most time around town I'm short shifting. There's much less vibration, the clocks are very easy to read except with polarized shades on (not really an issue but does effect their brilliance).

I have no experience with passengers. Likely you'll fing the suspension more compliant as well.

Good luck.

I just traded a 2008 Monster 1000 for the Brutale. I am getting use to the throttle . The MV feels a little jumpy. It may just be the extra power. The vibration is less on the MV. Not an issue at all for me. The last Triumph I owned has 1996, so I can not compare the MV . I have not been two up on the bike. The bike appears to very easy to ride around town, but most of my time riding my MV is away from the city. I am early in the ownership stage, but the bike is truly a work of art. The Triple is a great bike, but MV is a blast. Good luck.

The big plus for the speed triple is it is better around town and more economical, the 1090 is more aggressive but its probably smoother than the speed triple, it doesn't vibrate. Both are great bikes but you will find the MV more fun, more polished and you will not want to stop riding it.

I made the same switch... almost. Mine was from a 2010 S3 (round headlamps). If I had it to do over again... I would. I loved my S3 but the 1090 is definitely a more refined ride. I've not had any issues with fueling at low RPMs. Both bikes are a blast to ride, pull hard like a train, & to me, at least, have very similar handling characteristics. Now I have ridden the new S3 (Standard, not R) & really liked that bike compared to my old S3. And I'm not so sure I would give the edge to the 1090 over the new S3R with the full Ohlins setup. Another thing to consider, is where you live, access to a MV authorized dealer, & keep in mind aftermarket parts are not conveniently acquired. I'm fortunate enough to live 30 minutes from my dealer, but they carry nothing in the way of MV related aftermarket accessories. Whether you make the change or not you can't go wrong. Both are great bikes & like someone else mentioned have both if you can.
Good luck with your decision.
Cheers,
Glenn

I wonder how the S3R would rank in that comparison.

You can only imagine it would be going further up the leader board, especially with ABS
