Has anyone had a leaking fuel tank?

My 910r evidently has a leaking fuel tank which was noticed when the tank was loosened for service. (Oddly there was no apparent leak on the concrete where it was parked in my garage).

Have others had this problem? I'm confused about what to do as Feracci is evidently charging $1500 for a new tank, and this bike is pbly worth no more than 6-7k.

Any input would be appreciated. Thx.

It is not unheard of, but it is certainly not common. Find out where it is leaking from and try to see if it can be welded. (plastic weld, not metal)

If all else fails there is probably a seller of used parts on the forum who lives near New York and has a red one like in your avatar for about a third the cost of a new one.

Where is it leaking??? May be able to repair with plastic fuel resistant epoxy if it is at one of the mount bolt holes.....and why didn't you notice this leak prior to FBF service? Surely you would have smelled gasoline if there was a leak.

Ask them just exactly where it is leaking.

And that guy that lives near NY is a great source for used parts.

I used to be fast....now I just dream about it.

Clarification: the service is being done by Solo Moto in Byram, not FBF. FBF provided the parts quote on a new gas tank ($1500+shipping) to Solo Moto. I'm going to go over there tmrw and figure out what's going on -- very odd since there was no apparent leakage in my indoor garage.

I found this:

Thanks for the responses.

there was a recent thread (in the maintenance section if you search) about this as my tank was seeping fuel out of one of the bolt holes. It's at the shop now asnd we're going to first try some sealant in the holes. There was lots of different potential solutions in that thread.
