Right from brand new, I've had problems with scuffing the sides of my tank when wearing leathers. I got sick of constantly polishing out the marks with 'scratch & swirl' remover that I finally round to installing "InvisiGard" paint protection film onto the tank. I'm hoping that that will keep the tank in top nick....

To remove fine scratches I recommend, Griots Garage, Fine Hand Polish
http://www.griotsgarage.com/search.jsp?searchtext=11165 apply and remove with a micro fiber cloth. Do not use any abbrassive products such as rubbing compound which will not only produce more scratches but also cut the thin Italian paint job. Next I would install InvisGard Paint Protection Film as Idubbs stated.
