LED indicators

G'Day,

I'm planning on fitting a Melotti tail tidy with led indicators and a pair of Kellerman micro rhombus leds on the front. Been reading the posts and can't work out whether I need to fit other stuff to either make them operate properly or stop the electronics from frying.

Mechanicals no problem, but electrics other than the basics lose me. If you can't see it it doesn't exist. Voodoo magic. Being colour blind ain't much help either.

Any info. appreciated.

Cheers

You will need to put load resistors on your signals to slow the flash rate.

Just fitted Melotti tail tidy with LED blinkers (rear only) - needed 10 ohm resistors wired in parallel to each blinker (which actually reduces the resistance - according to mr ohm and his law). Works just perfect. The resistors came from auto 1 usually for LED trailer lights. About $10 each. They have rather generous aluminum heat sinks (considering the load, FA) and mount pretty well under seat zip tied to the rear sub frame.... Probably other ways you can achieve the correct flash rate - but this is fairly simple & straightforward.
