MY08 910S Frame Protectors

I was looking at some frame protectors on MV's site as I am not fond of the look of the "skateboard wheel bolted to my frame" style that most are offering. They are SPPTA001B4, anodized black and look quite nice. My bolts are hollow, but I don't see any internal threads. If I read the description correctly, they come with new bolts/spacers. Can anyone verify this? However, I was also thinking of making some myself using lost wax technique or something like that to sit over ridge of the tube and not cause undue stress on the bolts going into the head. I have a 10" metal lathe in my basement and was going to make some bar ends with my dad for a project anyway, so maybe this would be feasible as well. Anyone running the stock frame protectors so I can look at a picture of your bike with them on? Thanks in advance.

The stock protectors are silver, sit slightly raised from the frame and just bolt into the engine bolts. Not really much frame protection.

I have the Motivation frame sliders which have a bushing that fits the internal space of the frame and their bolt replaces the engine mounting bolt. Personally, I think these are the best protection.

However another option are these from Trooper Lu's Garage. They look like they replace the stock protectors and just screw into the engine bolts. This might be what you are looking for.

Wrong, what happens when that bolt get's ripped out. Sorry mate, I have seen this first hand.

These are better.
Having the secondary bolt into the main bolt is a much better idea. Have a look at the site sponsors, there are many pictures and various options if you want to make you own.

Quite valid point Donsy.

I assumed having the internal bush, removed any chance of movement of the bolt as it removes the empty space between the head and the slider.
A lot of the other brands of sliders didn't have the bush and this is where I assumed the problem was with bending or snapping the bolt.

Just a curious question, at what speed and/or situation did you see the bolt snap from the slider/head?

cheers
Mark
