Exhaust note changes at higher RPMs

Anybody else notice their 910 exhaust 'character' changing at higher RPMs? In the lower half of the rev range, say < 6K, the bike sounds like a turbine smooth I4 but as I rev it closer to redline, the note changes pretty dramatically. The low RPM turbine sound seems to get overlayed with this lower-pitched almost V-Twin like noise (or something like the sound of canvas being ripped). It's tough to describe exactly, but it doesn't sound like a rattle, and it's not an unpleasant noise at all. Wondering what it could be and if others have experienced something similar or is my motor about to explode?

I don't have a 910, so can't exactly say, but my thoughts are usually along the lines of:

<WFO>... "is the engine going to explode..<upshift> i can't believe this thing isn't coming apart <shift>.. f' it, just keep wringing its neck, mmmmuuuahahahhahahahhahaaa!!!"

IOW - It is the sound of you living my friend!

An MV Agusta engine racing to redline makes a sound that could be mistaken for angels having rough sex.

Enjoy it.

i don't have a 910 but the 1090 does have an exhaust tone change when you get above about 8k rpm, part of it may be the flapper valve in the exhaust opening, but its really the cool high pitched whine from the engine that sounds good.

i would venture to guess its working perfectly.

oh yeah that cool sound near the redline.. that is why you paid so much for an mv, for that sound

Really?? I'm going to lose that super cool sound when I install the mid pipe? My wife can hear that sound coming up the road and has the garage door open when I get there. She says there isn't another bike like it around.
